Our Concept of Health
The centre embraces the dynamic definitions of health as given by both the World Health Organization and Health Welfare Canada:
- A state of complete physical, mental and social well being, not just the absence of disease and infirmity;
- An active part of everyday living which involves the individual, the family, the community and society;
- A social and personal resource allowing people to manage and even change their surroundings; and
- A means of empowering individuals and communities with the opportunity to make choices and gain satisfaction from living.
